google’s Pixel 7 lineup has some of the best android handsets we’ve seen so far; these are the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. With that in mind, we know it has one major competitor, which for most people might also be one of the best phones. We are, of course, talking about the Apple iPhone 14.

In this feature we put the Pixel 7 vs iPhone 14 head to head to see which device is the best. We’ll cover all the key points, including the design, cameras, performance, and more. Please note that we will stick to the basic models this time. We will review the Pixel 7 Pro, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Proor iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Design and display

Both phones look strangely familiar, don’t they? That’s because their design languages are heavily based on their respective predecessors. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing. The Pixel 6 and iPhone 13 both looked great and had excellent build quality. The Pixel 6 series even marked a major change in Google’s smartphone designs, finally bringing the phones on par with premium designs like those of Apple devices.

The Pixel 7 meets premium smartphone standards with an aluminum frame, as does Gorilla Glass Victus in the front and back. The phone offers IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. And if it helps, the phone will finally look as good as Samsung and Apple devices.

Apple will certainly not be left behind when it comes to design. iPhones are known for looking and feeling great, and the iPhone 14 is no exception. The device comes with Corning glass and an aluminum frame on the front and back. This means that the Pixel 7 and iPhone 14 are made of nearly identical materials. The device from Apple is also IP68 certified.

However, things start to get a little different when we compare monitors. These screens are quite different. The iPhone 14 has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 1,170 x 2,532. The Pixel 7 has a slightly larger 6.3-inch AMOLED panel, but the resolution is less condensed at 1,080 x 2,400. But while Apple beats Google in terms of screen resolution, the Pixel 7 display is better in every other way. For starters, the Pixel 7 screen offers a 120Hz refresh rate, twice that of the iPhone 14’s 60Hz panel. It also has a higher peak brightness of 1,400 nits, as opposed to 1,200 nits.

Hardware and Cameras

Chances are you won’t notice much of a difference in terms of performance when choosing between the Pixel 7 and iPhone 14. Both phones will be fast enough, and both will efficiently handle whatever you throw at them. That said, there are some minor differences in specs.

Most importantly, the iPhone 14 stays with the previous generation Apple A15 Bionic chipset, instead of the A16, which was reserved for the iPhone 14 Pro versions. The Pixel 7 gets Google’s latest chipset, the tensor G2. In addition, the Google Pixel 7 gets 8 GB of RAM, which is more than the 6 GB of RAM of the iPhone 14.

The battery in the Pixel 7 is also larger at 4,355 mAh, compared to the 3,279 mAh unit in the iPhone 14. Even if you don’t notice the differences in performance (which may be minor), you’ll definitely notice the extra battery life you get. you from more than 1,000 mAh extra.

Tests

Not only can the Pixel 7 charge for longer, but it can also charge faster in most cases. The Pixel 7 supports wired charging at 30W, while the iPhone 14 can charge at 20W. Both can get to 50% in half an hour, but the difference is that Google’s battery is bigger. In addition, the Pixel 7 can charge wirelessly at 20W. That’s more than the iPhone 14’s 15W MagSafe speeds or the 7.5W Qi speeds.

There are also some significant changes in camera technology. The iPhone 14’s camera system is excellent, offering a number of 12 MP cameras with wide and ultra-wide lenses. The Pixel 7 seems to have slightly better hardware, with a 50MP primary shooter and a secondary 12MP camera. However, the hardware usually doesn’t say much in the world of photography. Pixel devices are known as some of the best camera phones, even when using simple single camera setups. This is because Google are computational photography to unprecedented heights. And it only gets better as both the software and camera hardware improve.

iPhone cameras are also known for being great photographers, but we still consider Pixels to be the kings of photography. The Pixel 7 is probably a better shooter than the iPhone 14, even if it is a bit. However, we will be testing more soon.
