WWE Friday Night SmackDown Results October 21, 2022 Winners, Recap, Grades, and Highlights 

SmackDown started with The Brawling Brutes heading to the ring for a match against the bloodline. We got a brief interruption in the broadcast when a vignette regarding Bray Wyatt aired.


WWE SmackDown Results (October 21, 2022): Sheamus vs. Solo Sikoa

Sheamus tried to hold a submission early on before Solo got some attacks and the two defeated each other in the center of the ring. Sikoa was headbutted and a pair of kicks, but fell from a lasso by Sheamus.

Back after a break on SmackDown, Solo took the White Noise for a near fall before getting the Avalanche Samoan Drop for the two count on Sheamus. Sheamus got the Beats of the Bodhran before Solo dodged the Brogue kick.

Sami Zayn distracted the referee from ringside and a brawl broke out between the Brutes and the Usos. Sheamus dived out and took out The Usos before returning to the ring where Sikoa hit the Spinning Solo and took the win.

Result: Solo defeats Sikoa. sheamus

The Bloodline attacked Sheamus after the match and dropped him on the steel stairs before Jey attacked his injured arm with a steel chair before Sami had him stop.

Grade B


Rey Mysterio was backstage on SmackDown and ran into Imperium who taunted him before Rey booked a match with Kaiser for later in the evening.


Bray Wyatt was backstage and apologized for cutting his promo short. He started confessing his problems, such as anger, which made him do things he regretted, but he was happy that the fans never gave up on him.

Wyatt said he was grateful and said that on his journey he will do terrible things without regrets.


The Bloodline was backstage celebrating Solo Sikoa’s victory. They then talked about taking out Logan Paul tonight, but Zayn warned them that Roman Reigns wants the Bloodline to stay out of their feud.

Jey Uso told Sami he’ll try to keep his cool, but he was a hothead so they’ll just have to wait and see what happens before the night is over.


Liv Morgan vs. Sonya Deville on SmackDown

Deville took control of the game early on and Morgan got a super kick, but Morgan was sent out by Deville before we headed for a break. When we were back on SmackDown, Sonya Deville was still in control and had a few near misses.

Morgan yelled at Sonya to hit her, but then took control and started unloading on Deville. Sonya was sent out and into the barricades before the match ended in a double countout.

Result: No match (double countdown)

After the match, Liv brought a set of chairs into the ring and piled them up before hitting Deville with a superplex on them.

Braun Strowman was next, calling MVP and Omos to show them what a “real monster” looks like. MVP came out alone and said he agreed Braun was a monster but Omos was the Nigerian giant.

Braun challenged Omos to a match at Crown Jewel and MVP accepted the match on his behalf. Omos also walked out and got into the ring before pushing Strowman out of the ring.


Backstage on SmackDown, Drew McIntyre challenged Karrion Kross to a Steel Cage match at Crown Jewel.


Damage CTRL vs. Raquel Rodriguez & Shotzi – Women’s Tag Team Championship Match on SmackDown

Raquel and Sky were in the ring early on and Kai was tagged for a double team move. Kai was also hit by a double team after Shotzi came in and nearly fell. The champions were sent out before Raquel Shotzi threw out and knocked them out.

Back after a commercial, Sky got a rope swing on Raquel for a near fall before being knocked out with a clothesline. Shotzi came in for a double team before Kai broke the pin. Raquel was sent out of the ring before Io moved to the top rope and moonsaulted on Shotzi before taking the win.

Result: Damage CTRL def. Raquel Rodriguez & Shotzi retain Women’s Tag Team Championship

Grade B


Ronda Rousey was backstage and said she didn’t care about the fans and wouldn’t be taking on an open challenge tonight.


Bray Wyatt’s faltering broadcast took over the video again and we got a stray “howdy” before heading to a break.


Rey Mysterio vs. Ludwig Kaiser on SmackDown

Kaiser got the first takedown before Rey got a few strikes and was ready for an early 619. Vinci and Gunther provided a distraction and stopped the move, but Rey still got a baseball slide before being dropped on the outside.

Back after a break on SmackDown, Mysterio pretended to be hit by a steel chair, ejecting Ringside Imperium. Back in the ring, Rey suffered a hurricane and the 619 before taking the win.

Result: Rey defeats Mysterio. Ludwig Kaiser

Grade B-


Logan Paul was next and joked about The Bloodline. He said he knew he was the underdog but wondered what would happen if he won. Logan was talking nonsense when Jey Uso attacked him from behind and knocked him out.

Zayn came in to stop the attack, but Jey went back. Logan managed to dodge the shot into the corner and knocked out Jey with one strike before pulling back when SmackDown went off the air.


Episode Rating: B-

Damage CTRL took another big win, while Braun and Omos staged a big match at Crown Jewel. Logan Paul knocked out Jey Uso while The Bloodline attacked Sheamus, leading to a serious injury, tonight on SmackDown.
